Creamy Russian Salad You'll Love


 You've probably had  this yummy, sweet crunchy and exotic Creamy Russian Salad at Restaurants, Party's of Potluks, but if you haven't let me tell you your missing out!! If you love salad, and you love to try something new and different, then you must try my Creamy Russian Salad...
Made with fresh veggies, such as carrots, peas, and potatoes, and  With the sweetness of fresh Apples, and Pineapples.. Mixing the Veggies, with the sweet fruit gives this salad a different sweet and sour  twist of flavours.. 

My Mom, and sister were fasting because were at the end of Rabial -Awal (did I forget to say reading the Darood Shareef is really beneficial in these 12 days.. So please read as much darood as you can and please keep me in your prayers aswell).. Oh so back to the food, I thought of making a special salad, to go with my My Chicken Biryani I prepared for them..
"Must I say more, after looking at this delicious pic. I was almost shivering when I tasted the Creamy goodness, because I couldn't wait to share it with all of my lovely viewers.. Its really easy, even your kids will love it.. My 8 year old was fussing about it until I made him almost gaag to take a bite, and believe it or not he loved it.. "I love to hear the thank you out of their mouths" here's what the dishes looked like when they were done!!.. Try it I'm sure you'll love it..



Prep time 15 minutes
cook time for the veggies 10-12 minutes
serves 4-6

Note*** if your servings are less, and you think this salad will be to much, split the recipe in half...I have a big family Mashallah, so this recipe is always perfect for us.
If you don't have fresh apples, or pineapples then use a large tin, can of fruit cocktail, it works great just as well..

Ingredients:
2 cups fresh peas, peeled ( if your planning on using the peas in a can tin, then don't boil them)
3 cups carrots diced (neatly
3 cups potatoes diced (neatly)
3 cups apples diced (neatly)
2 cups of fresh pineapple or you can use the ready pineapple in the Tins
1/4 cup of sugar ( or according to your taste buds)
1 heaped up cup  of cream/sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1-2 tablespoons of the pineapple juice leftover in the can if needed to make a thinner consistency
Teeny Weeny pinch of salt

 
I used this crème...

Method:
In a large vessel or pot add water and bring to a boil.
Throw in your diced, potatoes, carrots, peas. boil on medium flame until they are ALMOST done half done, not all the way otherwise they will get too mushy, and you don't want a mushy potato salad lol...
This step is real important to have them a little more than half way done, this is why the Russian salad, is so unique giving you a crunch type of taste..

Strain with Cold water and let cool. (I usually place the bowl in my freezer with the door open to speed things up)
Now in a large mixing bowl combine all your ingredients potatoes, peas, carrots, and diced apple, pineapple, you can even use cherries,  and mix real good.

If you would like your salad creamier then add more sour cream, and if you would like it sweeter, add more sugar according to your taste, or add 1-2 tablespoons of the juice from your (Tin Can) pineapple or fruit.
Refrigerate and let cool up to 2 hours before serving. Enjoy with your loved ones, and keep me in your prayers:)

  4. Yum Naz.. the perfect looks :) just a simple thing i want to share.. i guess white pepper is an optional ingredient because sometimes i use to add white pepper too.. probably it's just according to your taste :) Lovely Recipe.. Pass me ;)

The only reason I don't use it a lot is because my husband dosent like the smell or taste... But its definatly worth a try in salads.. and very good!! xo naz
