How To Make Resturant Style Hush Pupies

I'm sure most of us have had hush Puppies at some point of our food eating life... Their crispy little balls of Savory flavors. So crispy and coarse from the outside yet soft  and tasty from the inside.. Their usually served with fish and chips, or your favorite Ketchup or Dips. I had some at a fast food fish restaurant a couple of weeks ago.. They were so tasty, My kids Couldn't get enough of them...I thought to my self I have to come up with this recipe! So I  rolled up my sleeves and got to work, and after many tries of failure I came up with a recipe my family and I were very pleased with.. They tasted just like the ones at the Restaurants Here's how I made them...

Prep time 10 minutes
cook time 10 minutes
stove top cooking

1 cup of cornmeal flour ( makkai ki Atta)
1/8 of a cup of Gram Flour ( Besan Flour)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper(optional)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Oil for frying

In a large mixing bowl Mix the cornmeal, gram flour, salt, pepper, baking soda, garlic powder, onion powder and baking powder ...Then pour 1 1/2 cup of water and mix good until you get a smooth dough, with no lumps. The mixture should be soft and slightly runny.

Heat oil in a frying pan. Using a ice cream scoop, or a large tablespoon pour the mixture in the  oil. Make sure your oil is not too hot or not too cold. (dip the scoop, or the spoon in some water before you place it into the mixture, that way the hush puppies would be nice and round and the dough wont stick to the spoon)
Fry the Hush puppies, on medium to high flame (moving them constantly all over the frying pan) Until they are crispy brown on all sides..
Place on a paper towel to absorb access oil. Enjoy with your favorite Sauces, Dips, Fish or Fries...

    1. Thankyou Monu, yes you can use any kind of cornflour, not Cornstarch, because I have never tried that before.. any Corn flour would do, if its too thick then you can sift it, in a sifter.. hope this helps:)
