Home Made Doughnuts

Today i invited some of my family members over for tea,and i made some delicious doughnuts, that were finger licking good. They went crazy after them. Here is the recipe
Ingredients servings 12-14  doughnuts
4 cups all purpose flour (maida)
2 table spoons yeast
pinch of salt
1 drop of vanilla essence
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of oil
1 egg
oil for crying
warm water if needed
doughnut cutter,(i used a glass,and a bottle cap)

Mix flour, salt, vanilla, yeast, and sugar in a bowl, then add the egg and mix with your hands, crumbling the dough. Now add in the oil.Mix more and start kneading the dough. You can add a little bit of water with a table spoon one at a time if needed(you probably wont even need the water because the egg and the oil will do the job)  make sure the dough is not runny too soft or sticky. Now sit dough a side in a warm area  for at least 1 hour.
Once the dough rises. Punch and knead again, and make 2 5 inch balls. now roll out sift with a little bit of white flour so it doesn't stick. and cut shapes with your doughnut cutter. Heat oil and test to see if ready with throwing a little piece of the dough in to it. If it comes to the top your ready, if it doesn't then the oil is not hot enough. Put in your donuts one at a time an d fry until they become nice and golden brown on each side. Then place on a cookie sheet to absorb access oil.
Garnish with your favorite glaze, icing or toppings..
The glaze i put on my donuts is home made the recipe is:
half cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 drop of vanilla essence
Heat all of the ingredients in a frying pan for 10 min. Then place a side and cool for 15 min.Now pour glaze over all the doughnuts.

  1. can i use any flour?
