Chicken Pulao

Make this delicious Rice Meal in no time. Chicken Pulao is similar to biryani, but much easier to make, and it can be prepared very fast. You can use all types of meats,chicken or mutton, for this aromatic dish and you can serve with your favorite salads, chutneys, or raitas. So here's my very quick recipe.

Ingredients serves 6-8 very hungry people.
1 whole chicken(mutton,meat or breast) cut in pieces
4 cup  long grain or basmati white rice
6 cups of water for rice
2 big size onions-sliced
2 big tomatoes-diced
4 green chili's
2 tbs ginger garlic paste
2 tbs salt
1 tbs chili powder
1 cup oil

Method
Presoak rice 20-30 min prior
Cut and wash chicken
Heat pot, add oil then add onion , fry until onions turn nice and brown
Now add chicken and cook for 10 min
Add tomatoes, peppers,salt, ginger garlic,chili powder stir and cover and cook for another 10-15 min
Now add water, taste for salt add more if needed and cover
Once water comes to a boil, add drained rice stir and cover on low heat
Cook for about 10-12 min until rice absorbs all the water on on very low flame
Now serve with your favorite salads, and chutneys..

  1. Believe it or not, I grew up eating almost this exact dish in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, which we called chicken perloo, which was derived from the East during the spice/rice trade. Sometime we would use shrimp or duck instead, depending on the season. Our was more simply seasoned, but the same concept, and delicious. Will try your and report.
